Apr 14 - DonDon Bumacod

While students of The Master’s University prepare for Easter Sunday, a number of athletes continue through their regular season matches and postseason pushes.

Golf

The men’s and women’s golf teams have traveled to Prescott, Ariz. to compete in the GSAC Championship Tournament at Antelope Hills Golf Course from April 14-16.

The men’s team enters the event as the No. 12 ranked team in the nation and will have to win the GSAC Championship to punch their ticket into the NAIA National Championship. But they will have to outplay Ottawa University (AZ), who is ranked No. 5 in the nation and likely holds an at-large bid into the biggest golf tournament in the NAIA.

The women’s team are looking to end their season on a high note, as senior Nicole Lopez and junior Peyton Grider are likely playing their last golf tournaments in their collegiate careers.

The men are led by senior Jonathan Larson, who is individually ranked No. 4 in the nation and leads the NAIA with six wins in eight starts. Meanwhile, the women have junior Hannah Ulibarri, who is ranked No. 15 in the NAIA with two wins and six top-3 finishes under her belt.

Men’s Volleyball

The men’s volleyball team closed a remarkable regular season and will now begin their push for their third straight GSAC Championship title. Their semi-final match will be played at The MacArthur Center in Santa Clarita, Calif. against Ottawa University (AZ) on April 14 at 6 p.m.

The team finished the regular season with a mind-blowing 21-0 record and are the No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA. They also enter the GSAC Championship Tournament as the No. 1 seed, which guarantees them home-court advantage for the entirety of the event.

A win against OUAZ will allow the Mustangs to advance to the finals match on April 17.

Baseball

The baseball team will play against Providence Christian College at Lou Herwaldt Stadium in Santa Clarita, Calif. on April 15 at 3 p.m. They will also play a doubleheader against University of La Verne at La Verne, Calif. on April 16, with the first game starting at 11 a.m and the second game starting 30 minutes after Game 1.

The team is looking to gather some momentum before they play their last conference opponent, Benedictine University Mesa (AZ), in search of a bid into the GSAC Championship Tournament.

They currently sit fourth in the conference standings, which would place them into the tournament.

Outdoor Track and Field

The men’s and women’s track and field teams are traveling to Azusa, Calif. to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 15-17.

Both teams look to continue their push through the regular season, as this event is the last of their decorated regular season.

They will begin their chase for a GSAC Championship title following the conclusion of the Bryan Clay Invitational.
