Plumbing issue leaves student dorms without water for now
Feb 16 - Claire Burke
The Master’s University dorms currently have no water due to a plumbing repair mishap that occurred Saturday.
The problem started with a gas leak that occurred in Dixon Hall. To resolve this problem Plant Ops was able to stop the leak resulting in no hot water or dryers for dorms such as Smith Hall (C-Dub).
Today, Plant Ops workers replaced the gas water heater in Dixon hall. While making these repairs the workers hit a water line, causing it to burst in front of Dixon. To combat this new problem, Plant Ops shut off the water flow to all dorms.
According, to security guard, Ryan Walsh, a plumber came to observe the issue and potentially fix it at 2:37 p.m. today. However, the issue has not been resolved. Currently, students have resorted to finding areas other than the dorms to do homework and hang out.
Hotchkiss resident Madi Hickman has resorted to hanging around Trophy Coffee until the problem has been fixed. Hattie Van Bibber, a C-Dub resident assistant, stated, “Dorm residents should probably think about how much time they need to set aside to use the restroom as the closest bathroom is the pool or gym. It would be unwise to try and use the toilets in the dorm since it will cause more plumbing problems.”
For the answer as to how long until the issue is resolved, Bibber commented, “The water should be turned on by the end of the day.”
In the meantime the MacArthur Center restroom is an option.
